Zaagaasge Joshua Robert Pegahmagabow, 35, Deer clan of Wasauksing First Nation, began his spirit journey on Friday, November 28^th, 2025.

Zaagaasge was born on September 17^th, 1990 to loving parents Pazhe Rice and Terry Pegahmagabow in Parry Sound. Loving father of Wilder and uncle to Bay. Dear brother of Harmony (Kevin); and Brianna (Lyndon). Fondly remembered by his Aunts Darlene, Susan, and Ann Marie, his uncle Mark, his cousins Adam, Kai, Steve, Shane, Jessica, Jacob and by all his other relatives and friends. Zaagaasge was predeceased by his grandparents Jean, Stefan, Marie, Robert, uncles Paul, Alex, cousins Tamara, Luke.

Zaagaasge was a curious and gentle child, he was inseparable from his dog Barney and his childhood friends Wasejiwon and Trevor. Zaag attended Parry Sound High School and was known to be a musical, easygoing and a kind friend during his teenage years. Learning to play guitar early, Zaag was a music lover and enjoyed the sounds of his favourite bands including Aesop Rock, The Pixies, and Frank Ocean. Zaag loved listening to music while working painting by day or by a campfire with family and friends. Zaag would spend countless hours reading, disassembling machinery, electronics and gadgets to figure out how they worked and reassembling them, he loved to study the sky and could look at the stars and constellations for hours.

With Danielle, Zaag was gifted with his son Wilder who brought strength, love and pride into his life. Zaag enjoyed spending time with his family, and he loved them very much.

From an early age, Zaagassge developed a deep love and appreciation for Georgian Bay. He loved to be on the bay and was a true waterman with Traditional Knowledge of Wasauksing shoreline and the water surrounding the island, he was beyond his years as a wise soul to many. Zaag was a certified outdoorsman, tree cutter, boater and hunter. Zaag spent his summer jobs through high school working at Wasauking Marina and continued working with the marina on into his adulthood as he thrived on the bay. Zaag later found his passion in commercial painting while living in British Columbia with his dad, and worked with several industrial paint companies on Vancouver Island and later on Georgian Bay. He loved this work immensely as it brought him close to water, to the shoreline where he found great peace.

Zaag loved to travel and travelled to many parts of Canada as a team member for the Walk for Youth Mental Health. He spent time on the ocean shore, touched both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and was an avid collector of sea shells. Zaag had a deep respect for birds and animals and often found himself rescuing and caring for them. He loved dogs including Harley, Huck, Bird, Matteo, Frida and others. Zaagaasge loved to be on the barbecue and was a grill master, we will miss his amazing barbequed burgers and sausages.

Resting at the Wasauksing Gathering Place, where friends and family will be received from 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 2^nd, until the Celebration of Life on Wednesday, December 3^rd at 11:00 A.M. Reception at the Gathering Place, followed by cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wasauksing United Church Food Bank, a charity Zaagaasge volunteered at and felt strongly about.
