Wow! Living life to the max and loved by so many people. Absolutely incredible, and he was lucky to have been schooled by his partner Lorna for 50 years. Wendall worked hard over many years and was always mentoring the good loyal people and would also make an effort to mentor and present an opportunity to those needing a second chance. So unselfish. He was compassionate, loving, honest, no bull shit, and lived for his family. Not always the easiest guy to work for, he would never ask someone to do what he wouldn't do himself. He was the epitome of Lead by Example. A boy from MacTier having the nerve to date a girl from Parry Sound upset the balance. Wendell was motivated to prove that he was worthy and a responsible and an honest good catch for Lorna. He proved the skeptics wrong. He rocked! Fond memories of Tequila and wings at Craganmore, Platinum Lounge antics. A great man graced us.

Wendell was the “cool” cousin. I remember some of the shenanigans he used to pull off as a young teenager. With his dad Uncle Clyde and another fellow they built our house south of North Bay. Occasionally I would run into him at various bars as he was playing with local bands. I attended his wedding and marveled at the intelligent beauty who became his wife. I think the odds were stacked against him in his early years but he persevered to become a loving and very successful individual. He will always hold a special place in this cousin’s heart. My sympathies to Lorna and family. He will certainly be missed.

-Trudy Johnson
