TRACY BOSLEY

The sun set on Tracy Lee Bosley (nee Getz) on December 25th, 2024.

Tracy, age 61, is survived by her loving husband and bunk muffin, Vaughn, her cherished sons Devon (Alyssa) and Vincent (Elizabeth), her amazing grandsons, Domenic, and Zaiden, her sisters Darlene Richardson and Shelly Sheard, her special niece Erin Sheard (Rob Scheifley), Father & Mother In law Donald & Irene Bosley, and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunts, Uncles and friends. Know that she loved you all. Tracy is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Doreen Getz (nee McGuffin), her brother Brent, her brothers-in-law, Jim Richardson and Larry Sheard, her dear niece, Laura Fox-Martin, and her cheeky Cockapoo, Scouty.

Tracy’s father, Ralph, was a Regimental Sergeant Major and a CWO in the Canadian Armed Forces. As a result the family travelled a great deal and Tracy was born May 11th, 1963 in Iserlohn, Germany. The family also lived in Calgary, Meaford, Angus, and finally settled in Creemore upon Ralph’s retirement.

Living in Creemore was idyllic and Ralph taught Tracy the art of fishing and passed on his love of baseball to her. Throughout her life she played recreational basketball, volleyball, broomball, Mixed 3 Pitch, Mixed Slow Pitch and Ladies fastball. She had an awesome glove as an outfielder. With Grandpa, John Getz, who was as a farmer and her Mom and Granddad, Albert McGuffin, who were gardeners, Tracy inherited her love of gardening and growing plants honestly.

In 1987 Tracy landed a job working at Honda of Canada Mfg in Alliston where she worked for 30 years, mostly as a budget controller. It was at Honda where she met her sweetheart, Vaughn. Not content to sit around, Tracy then pursued and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from the University of Waterloo while working, first via correspondence and then finishing with online studies. Once that was complete, she joined the Simcoe County Master Gardener’s group and she completed the Horticultural Certificate through the University of Guelph.

In 1999 Tracy joined the Ontario Horticultural Association by joining the Alliston Garden Club where she was still a member until the end. In 2012 she completed the OHA judging school and became a certified judge of floral design and horticultural. In 2019 she completed the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Horticultural judging school to become an accredited judge of horticultural. Tracy was also an Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies qualified judge of flowers and vegetables. She has also completed her Canadian Rose Judging qualifications. She enjoyed floral designing and completed the Floral Design Certificate through the Toronto Botanical Gardens in 2018.

Tracy loved volunteering her time and belonged to the Parry Sound & District Horticultural Society and Georgian Bay Master Gardeners, joining both in 2017 when she and Vaughn retired to Parry Sound. She was a board member of the Sir Fredrick Banting Legacy Foundation, and was a member of the OHA District 16 flower show committee, the OHA District 18 board, the Canadian Rose Society, the Huronia Rose Society, the Canadian Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society and the Alliston Garden Club. It was also a common sight to see Tracy with the trunk of her car full of roadside garbage as she did ditch clean up every spring.

Tracy loved family get-togethers and visiting with family and friends, frequently putting together luncheons or dinner get-togethers. Nothing gave her as much pleasure as the time spent with her honey, her children, her ginger-haired grandson, Domenic as well as her newborn grandson Zaiden.

Her great sense of humor and zest for life, travel and adventure gave her endless energy. The family spent many summers on Bass Lake near Wiarton. Tracy and Vaughn traveled to many destinations including Italy, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, the States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Bonaire, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Antigua, St Lucia, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Bonaire, St Maartens, Bahamas, and their favourite destination, Barbados. She loved destination weddings, including her own, when Vaughn and Tracy eloped in Las Vegas! They did many trips to see Nascar races. She’ll be enjoying her final resting spot, looking down with love at her family and friends.

Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Alida Pokoradi, Gyno Oncologist at the Hudson Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Dr Amit Oza head of Medical Oncology and Hematology Research at Princess Margaret Hospital, and Dr. Lilian Siu, Oncology Researcher at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Friends and family will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound, on Saturday, January 11th, 2025 from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M.

A Celebration of Tracy's Life will take place in the Logan Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 11th at 1:00 P.M. Reception to follow.

If desired, donations can be made in her memory to the Alliston Garden Club, the Parry Sound & District Horticultural Society, the Georgian Bay Master Gardeners, the Canadian Cancer Society (there is no cure for ovarian cancer yet), or help save the planet and plant a native tree. And remember, PLEASE USE GARBAGE RECEPTACLES.

Vaughn,
Unfortunately we are away on vacation from January 3 till the 13th so cannot make the Celebration of Life. My thoughts will be with you all on the 11th. I would definitely have come to show my respect. Tracy and I go back to public school days and also became even closer during High School. I was so happy I saw her last summer when you stopped in for lunch at Mylars. She was such a wonderful person who NEVER changed. We will all miss her so much.

There are no words to express my sadness on hearing of Tracy's passing. I had gotten an email from her not long ago and she had had a bad spell but said she was getting better. She was a bright spot in our circle of Red Hats as well a driving force in the local horticulture society. She will be remembered in our hearts.

-Sharon Kalich

It truly was my honor and pleasure to have had the opportunity to meet Tracy ( Df'r) as we called each other with a smile so many years ago when I started at Honda. She was one of the people that truly made coming to work enjoyable to do. She will be sadly missed, however I know she's always going to be looking over all her family and friends, so she's going to be staying busy just as she always enjoyed doing.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Tracy’s passing. She was an amazing tutor in flower designing and everything gardening, and I learned so much from her over the past years. I have many of her plants in my garden. Tracy will be greatly missed at both the hort society and at Red Hats. Rest in peace, Tracy.
“The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies” (Gertrude Jekyll). Thanks for sowing that seed in me, Tracy.

I am so sorry for your loss. She was such a lovely woman.

-Doug

Our deepest condolences to all Tracy's families at this sad time. I always remember her great smile and times at Stan's restaurant in Creemore.

She was one of a kind! So very, very funny, and wicked smart. How can someone who makes you laugh so that coffee comes out of your nose make you cry as hard? She coloured my world with flowers and I can safely say she touched others the same way. We had so much fun at every event we attended. I remember to this day the sound of Paval Bures skating past us at a Maple leaf/Vancouver hockey game, and she and I just looked at each other with awe. She was with me when Joe Carter hit the home run to send us to the World Series...we were at Loretto Tavern. I remember when she won the Truck from the Lions club. She was mischievous. That was one of my favourite things about her. She was an awesome friend. She never forgot birthdays. She loved to learn! Another of my favourite memories was the day we went to the RBG in Hamilton so that she could "shadow" my brother Sandy as he judged the Iris show.

I was in total shock to hear of Tracy’s passing. My heart goes out to all of her family. Tracy grew up in Creemore and was friends with our family. Her parents were such great community supporters, so I’m not surprised to read Tracy kept busy volunteering in her community. I know she loved gardening and flowers were her specialty. Rest easy, my friend. You will be missed.

Dear Vaughn and family, we are so very sorry for the loss of your amazing and beautiful Tracy. I met Tracy at HCM in 1988 where we both worked in the Purchasing Department. We instantly became great friends with a lot of fun, trips and laughter. She was very smart, adventurous with a great sense of humour. Our families have a lot of memories for many, many years of being together that we will cherish forever! We were so fortunate to have been able to spend Monday with Tracy before her passing where she was her witty self with a big smile. I miss her so much already as I’m sure you guys are also feeling the same void. Rest in peace T! Your work here is done 🙏🏻😇 Love, Bernadette Mark Bailey and family ❤️

Vaughn, I’ve been putting off writing this because I am so heartbroken over this loss. I am so grateful that I got to spend time with Tracy the day before she passed. It seems unreal that I will not be able to talk to her or receive her daily text messages chatting about our day. One of my fondest memories was the day we were all heading to a NASCAR race and you guys had just been notified that you were going to become parents. The joy that Tracy and you felt was so heartwarming. It made the trip so special. I have been so lucky to have had Tracy as a friend for over 45 years. What I love most about Tracy was her quick wit, words of encouragement and loyalty as a friend. I am so sad that we are away and cannot attend Tracy’s celebration of life. Tracy will live on in my heart forever. Love Darlene, Brent & Lindsay ❤️

-Darlene & Brent Houston
