Sandra Mary (Smith) Tyler passed away peacefully at the West Parry Sound Health Centre on Monday, March 23rd, 2026, in her 77th year.
Beloved wife of the late Brad Tyler. Loving mother of Rebecca and her husband Carl; Derek and his wife Alejandra; and Jonathon and his wife Emily. Cherished Grandma of Aidan (Emma), Zachary, and Laylia. Dear sister of Sharon, Coralie, and the late Glenn, Raymond, and Maureen. Survived by sister-in-law Lynn. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Sandra M. Tyler, lovingly known as Sandy, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Sandy was a caring, independent, resilient, and witty woman whose vibrant personality could light up any room. Known for her unique fashion sense and signature hats, she brought humor, warmth, and joy wherever she went.
For more than 35 years, Sandy dedicated her career to the Laboratory at West Parry Sound Health Centre, where she made a lasting impact through her compassion, commitment, and care for others in the community. Sandy loved to sing and was a member of several church choirs in Parry Sound. She generously volunteered at church functions preparing food and most recently at the Mary Street Boutique. A true social butterfly, she enjoyed spreading cheer and connecting with everyone she met. She loved to travel, but her favorite place was Florida, where she enjoyed walking the beaches searching for shells, sea glass and shark’s teeth. Just soaking in the sunshine.
Sandy touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A legend has been laid to rest — a rest she has rightfully earned. She lived by the words, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” and her strength and spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
As was Sandy’s wish, cremation has taken place.
Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, on Friday, April 24th, from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. A Service in Celebration of Sandy’s Life will take place in the Logan Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 24th at 1:00 P.M. Reception to follow.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre or the Mary Street Centre (cheques payable to St. James United Church or e-transfer to: [email protected]) would be appreciated.
My sincere condolences to the Tyler family. I will keep fond memories of times spent in Parry Sound.

I can remember sitting next to her when we all went for lunch at Ebenezer Ale House, when you all came to shop. After ordering, Chuck went to his truck to get his jacket for her because she was cold and while he was gone she asked if he had “gone for her” & then said “I hope its a leather biker jacket.” We all laughed. She was such a happy & expressive woman and we are so happy to have had the honor. Deepest of condolences Rebecca & family. With love, Carolyn & Chuck

Dear Becky and boys. Your mom was like a little fire cracker. So much spunk! Always on the go. Mostly helping and thinking of people. She had so much more to do. She will be missed by so many, especially me. Memories will keep her in your hearts. I am so very sorry for your loss.

To the Tyler families and friends .. I am so fortunate to have met Sandy at our monthly potlucks in Orrville for the past 12+ years. Her glowing face, with the nonchalant of pain or worry. It was all left at the front door. Her laughter and her determination to make everyone feel that we were all meant to be there as a family. I know there will be several family and friends who have gone on ahead waiting for her with opened arms and ready for her to host her heavenly potluck supper. Just in case you didn’t know this Sandy.. You will certainly missed. I hope someday we can meet again at the end of the rainbow of life with a cup of coffee and one of your homemade pies.. Until then my friend.. Just remember this is not goodbye.. but only until we meet again.. please try to behave.. Sharon and Gerd Nissen

So sorry to hear of Sandy’s passing. I first met Sandy in the bowels of the old general hospital at the lab reception back in 1985.I was a nurse running down to get blood packs or take lab work down back in those days. She always had a smile and a laugh despite being in the basement. Would perk my day up. Rest in peace Sandy, and condolences to her family.

My condolences to Sandy’s family and friends who will miss her vibrant, caring personality. I went to school with her older sister Sharon but Sandy, being reasonably close in age was well known to me, I had some lovely walks with her at the walking program at the Y when it operated and learned more about her. I admired her gift for talking to everyone and making them feel better for knowing her. She was fearless, never letting her health problems stop her from living life to the fullest. Rest in Peace, Sandy

Dear Tyler family, Rich and I send you our sincere sympathy in the passing of your mother/grandmother. Sandy was always a ball of energy and cheer. We will miss her great smile and her chats. She was a warm, connecting person. We knew her for many years through her work in the little lab office in the basement of the Parry Sound General Hospital and from her involvement with the Baptist Church in town. Always busy, always a doer. We think of you all and send you wishes for happy memories and for peace. May God bless you all. Pat and Richard Poole
