RUTH ANN MILES

Ruth Ann (Sauer) Miles 1936 - 2021 passed away peacefully at Belvedere Heights, on January 24th, 2021. Age 84 years.

Beloved wife of the late Ross E. Miles (2001). Loving mother of Judith Ann Stark (1995), and David Gary Miles (2015). Much loved grandmother of Jesse Daniel Stark (Lindsey), and Jamie Nicole Grace Stark. Dear great grandmother of Ross and Miles Stark. Loving sister of Kirk and Nancy Sauer. Sister-in-law of Kay Easun. Predeceased by her sister Mary Clancy, and parents Grace and Fred Sauer. Fondly remembered by her other relatives, and many friends.

Cremation has taken place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Princess Margaret Hospital would be appreciated.

Memories shared with love, Kim and Doug.

Ruth Ann was a long-time valued employee of TD Bank in many Toronto and area branches, working her way up the corporate ladder. She was so very proud when Judy followed in her footsteps regardless of if by accident or design. Ruth Ann was a spirited and hardworking individual that expected the same dedication from her staff, (well really anyone) that she demonstrated. After many years, of having a cottage, Ruth Ann and Ross retired to Parry Sound. Her and Ross were the optimal hostesses. Their gorgeous retirement cottage was a real vacation spot. Ross would take us water skiing, fishing or whatever only to return to the most gracious hostess serving cocktails and snacks. It was 5 o’clock somewhere! The competition who caught the biggest fish, never got old! But where were they serving pickerel, it was her absolute favourite?
After Ross passed away, Ruth Ann was lost. They had purchased the condo in town still enjoying the gorgeous shores of Georgian Bay. Ruth Ann continued to volunteer at the hospital and play bridge until she could no longer. She loved to visit the bank, critique the modern-day banking system, as she wanted to ensure those TD shares continued to do well and may even drop in for a bite of Chinese food. She loved her grandchildren more than they will ever know. The occasional times she got to spend with them made her the happiest. Whether golfing with Jesse or sharing a story with Jamie, these two lit up her life. Ruth Ann was a very kind person, if she liked you. LOL! She would welcome you into her home and there was no boundary to her generosity. Every Christmas, even this past one, it was so important for her to send the grandchildren gifts, it made her so happy to share. Unfortunately, tragedies were no stranger to her, losing Judy, difficult to understand; then Ross, so unfair and then David, just unbelievable. She often asked the question why? To that I have no answer. Her disease, the loss of her memory in these past few years, perhaps that was the silver lining because who could live with the memory of all the hurt, she endured in such a relative short period of time. Our sympathies go out to Jesse, Lindsey, Ross and Miles; Jamie, Kirk, Nancy and Aunt Kay and families. All who knew her and have special memories of their own.
I can assure you, there is one rousing Miles family reunion happening as they reconnect in a better place, probably on the shore somewhere with a campfire and oh yes, a few glasses of cheer! Until we meet again. My Friends the Miles Family!!!

Condolences

Until Covid-19 closed the doors of belvedere to us in March 2020 I was a member of a band that entertained residents on Monday evenings. Ruth Ann was a front row participant and she kept us (the band members) entertained as much as we did her and the other residents. She will be missed. I also worked with her son David and we often talked about his mom and the cottage. Ruth Ann be at peace with God. Danny Shoe
