RUSSELL ALAN JORDAN
1969 – 2026
After a brief illness, Russell, surrounded by family, departed for his next adventure on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026. He was an independent man who realized he was also one of God’s children who had a calling beyond this life.
Loving son of Alan and Shirley (Watkinson) Jordan. Dear brother of Sheila Dunn (Ted), John Jordan, and Suzanne Carruthers (Blair). Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Lora (Christopher), Corinne, Cheryl (Jason), and Matthew Dunn; Rob, Erin, and Samantha Carruthers; and great niece Genevive Dunn. Also remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Russell graduated from Carleton University as a Civil Engineer and worked for many years in the Alberta oil and gas industry. He settled in Cochrane, Alberta where he would often visit the majestic Rocky Mountains to refresh his spirit. Russell’s travels took him to different parts of the world where he had many adventures resulting in great stories. He enjoyed connecting with people. He was curious, fun-loving, and loved playing games.
Russell’s family wishes to thank all the people involved with the Alberta and Ontario Palliative Care Health at Home programs. Everyone was exceptionally compassionate and sensitive to the needs of Russell and his family.
As was Russell’s wish, cremation has taken place.

I was very sorry to hear of Russell’s passing. Although I’ve only seen him once in the past few years, I knew him well in his formative years at Humphrey School. Russell was always curious and fun loving, and if I recall correctly, quite mischievous. My sincere sympathies to his family. Russell is gone far too soon but not forgotten and God has another angel.

I always remember riding on a school bus to Humphrey with Russell and was deeply socked to come upon this. I remember when he always liked to be funny with his singing DOO DEE DOO DEE DOO…DOO DEE DOO DEE DOO! My condolences to Alan, Shirley, John, Sheila and Suzanne during this difficult time and known the good lord didn’t allow him to suffer too long. May God rest your soul Russell

We have wonderful memories of Russell. He was just three years old when we purchased our cottage and we became lifelong friends of the Jordan family. He was always fun to be with as we watched him grow. When we moved to Calgary 37 years ago, we were able to continue our friendship with him as he relocated to nearby Cochrane. Frank fondly remembers going on some hikes with him in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. In particular, Frank recalls the long high elevation hike of Pigeon Mountain. Russell brought his water “bottle” which was more like a jug you would take to a family picnic. It was a hot day and he made good use of it. At the top, the view was magnificent and the two of us talked about nature and life in general.
