RON McNABB
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we wish to announce the sudden passing of Ronald Paul Michael McNabb, peacefully with his family by his side, on Tuesday December 7th, 2021 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury. Age 68 years.
Ron is the cherished and loving husband of Marilyn Plater-McNabb for 44 years and the precious father to Liam (Valerie), Byron (Ashley) and Martha. His grandchildren Charlie, Adelaide, Marlowe and Yale all carry his love of life and their love for him. His loving parents Bruce and Margaret McNabb predeceased Ron along with his brother Bruce Jr. (Christine), sister Mary Catherine, and brother-in-law Douglas. Ron will be sadly missed by his brothers Gary (Joan), Bill, and Rick (Bev) along with the Plater side of the family: Nancy (Bill), Bob (Pat), Greg (Bonnie), Lyle (Virginia) and Linda (Harald). His numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and employees are all heartbroken as well. Ron was indeed a friend to all.
Ron is out on his last boat ride. Forever missed, but always remembered out on the Bay.
Family and friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound (705-746-5855) on Wednesday, December 15th from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.
A private interment will take place at Sylvan Acres Cemetery in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated.

Cherished as a friend. Ron and I went to southwestern Ontario in 1988. Bought 100 chairs for Mr. Bs with him. We arrived around 2 in the morning. He always had a story. One of Parry Sound's finest, honest, caring, and very much in tune with the local news (gossip) that we loved to share and laugh about. I'm sure we will see Ronnie down the road .j

Our deepest condolences. Ron was such a pleasant and welcoming person. It was always fun to speak with him about old times back in Cooksville during the early 1970's as teenagers. Ron went out of his way assisting with furnishing our new home and was creative getting furniture into the house. Sadly he won't be enjoying time on the Bay during his greatly anticipated retirement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and family.
-Al & Nancy BartlettCondolences to Marilyn and the family. Ron was always a class act and truly enjoyed all my business days with him. He could always take a negative and turn it into a positive in seconds. You will be missed my dear friend.

Dear McNabb Family
So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I've known Ron for over 25 years. He was the most kindest and sweetest person ever. He was so easy going and was ready to help someone when they needed it. He will be missed by all who knew him. My heart goes out to all of you.
Kim Orr (Segula)
Although I have not been close to Ron in the last few decades, in my teens and and early 20's I always looked up to him and respected him for his "lets do something" attitude. He was an absolutely self made man, that went from corner store to furniture mogul. He raised an incredible family. He cared deeply and brought joy to all he touched. I'm truly sorrowed that his time has come and express my deepest condolences to his family and friends at this very difficult time.
Dean Plater

Ron was such a fine man; one who was personable and so very sincere, both in his private and business life. As a resident of the Municipality of McDougall, he and I had numerous conversations (many in the store) and he was always so reasonable in his opinions and views. Marilyn, you and I go way back in education (remember the Principal's course) and I know that your husband was a “good man” and needless to say, he will be greatly missed. May God bless and keep you!

You really were such an influence on our community and I will be here to follow through with your beliefs and ethics. We were entirely shocked to learn of Ron's passing. Over the decades, mom and l came to know Ron through his business having purchased from him often. It was through those interactions that we came to know him on a personal level. He was amiable and so easy to talk to. Ron was an outstanding man in this community and contributed so, so much. He will be sorely missed.

Sincerely sorry for your loss. Ron was a wonderful and very helpful person.
-Christine & Bill CorbettWe send our deepest condolences to Marilyn, Liam, Byron, Martha, to Ron’s siblings and to all of Ron’s family. We feel fortunate that our kids grew up with Ron and Marilyn’s kids at McDougall school and that they were part of our “it takes a village to raise a child”. Ron also provided our son with summer employment delivering furniture. Ron was a generous, kind and interesting person with a great sense of community. It was always so pleasant to buy furniture or appliances from him but only after he asked about each and every member of our family. His interest in our lives always came ahead of selling us furniture. We, as many in our community, will miss him very much.
-Kit and Doug PawlechWe would like to extend our sincere condolences to you Marilyn, your family, and to the entire McNabb family. Ron was an icon in Parry Sound. He was admired and respected in friendship and in business. We enjoyed doing our business with him. He always asked how our family was and genuinely cared. He always had a smile, always so positive, kind and caring. He’ll be missed greatly. Hoping these condolences from the community he loved, help to bring you comfort during this very difficult time.

-Jananne McWilliamsWe met Ron almost 40yrs ago and still have the first piece of furniture he sold us. From that day onward he treated us as friends not customers. -Nancy & Bob WallaceOur condolences to the McNabb family.
Got to know Ron first as a customer some 20 years ago and later as fellow hockey player. A wonderful gentleman always trying to help. He tried to get us out on the boat many times, but it was never convenient. I know this community will miss him.
RIP my friend.
Ron will be missed. His knowledge and friendliness in business highlighted why I would "Shop Local". Ron, may you rest in peace.

Our hearts are heavy with sadness for your loss. Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had an unwavering curiosity and passion for everything he did in his life. I am reminded of the question he asked often, “So, what do you think?” The question led to many in depth conversations. I feel blessed to have had him as a friend and employer.

To the entire McNabb family my deepest sympathy.I still can't grasp this as it will be for many Ron was such a special person able to relate to all!
I have tried to think of some moment that sums up his character.Ron and I had played hockey together with SpikeNailers in the early to mid 1990's but found ourselves on different teams in the Humphrey thursday night league(Ron's Parry Sound Furniture team) During a game I had just scored a goal and on turning into the corner one of his new players cross checked me head first into the boards,Ron was the first one there helping me up seeing if I was alright his reaction towards his own player was swift! He told him to gather his gear and leave there was no room on his team for such a player.Ron would stop into my work place the next day to see if I was okay,Ron was genuine, honourable, loyal, respectfull etc.
Ron you will be missed

As a kid I spent so much time at your house, and no matter what Ron never hesitated to offer up some home cooking on the BBQ, shoot hoops with us, it didn't matter what time it was he was always willing to chat.
I can remember Ron being so excited to get Byron and his sea flea out for its maiden voyage, and always being the hippest dad and keeping up with whatever lingo us kids had at the time. "rad dude" or something of the sorts, although I'm sure Liam, Byron and Martha thought it was so embarrassing.
Ron was a kind hearted man and his passion for work, and play showed, working hard at the store, and living for the days off on the bay.
I could honestly go on for hours about the memories I have of Ron.
You were one of a kind and I send my deepest condolences to all of you.
