MURIEL CRAWFORD
Muriel Jean (Wagstaff) Crawford passed away peacefully at Belvedere Heights on Saturday, September 24th, 2022. Age 87 years.
Beloved wife of James Crawford for 68 years. Loving mother of Louise and her husband Steve Krause, Jim Crawford and his wife Artis, and Laurie Crawford. Cherished grandma of Brandy, Sarah, Hans, Jay, and Keenan; Vanessa, Ariel, and Evan; Michael, Luc, and Neeve. Great grandma of Hannah and Alex. Dear sister of Margaret (Ted), Ron (wife the late Loreen), Patricia (Robert), and the late Nellie (Ron). Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Born in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1934 to parents Arthur and Janet Wagstaff; Muriel Jean Crawford (nee: Wagstaff) grew up in Carragana, and later moved to Scotland, Ontario, followed by Galt, Ontario where she became a Bell Telephone Operator. It was in Galt, ON that Muriel met her husband of 68 years, James Crawford. Together they built their loving home and raised their three children: Louise, Jim, and Laurie. In 1968, Muriel and James moved their family to their forever home in McKellar, ON. Muriel quickly became a very involved member of the McKellar United Church, and served as a past president of the U.C.W.
Muriel was a woman of many talents; she rode horses, drove tractors, drove a standard truck, and had no problem changing a tire. Muriel had many hobbies which included gardening, picking strawberries, tying tobacco, playing tennis and baseball, and she even tried her luck waterskiing once – fully clothed and with her glasses on! Muriel was a hairdresser, an avid recycler, a volunteer wherever she was needed, and a talented fibre artist – her hands were never idle. Above all, Muriel’s greatest joy was found right at home with her family. Muriel cherished her marriage to James, and she was the ‘best mom in the world’ to her children. Muriel was a gift to all – she will be forever missed.
Muriel’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Belvedere Heights and the West Parry Sound Health Centre for their excellent care and compassion.
Memorial visitation and Celebration of Muriel’s Life will take place at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound (705-746-5855), on Friday, September 30th, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, McKellar, prior to the Celebration of Life, on Friday, September 30th at 11:00 A.M.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society Muskoka, Belvedere Heights, or the McKellar United Church would be appreciated.

-Beverley and Kevin HallMy deepest condolences are extended to the Crawford family on Muriel's passing. Muriel lived and shared her faith with others in her daily interactions. Muriel made the best matormonial squares ever. Ever year at Christmas she'd drop me off a full pan because she knew it was my favorite. May her legacy be a blessing to all who grieve her passing. Thought and prayers. Merv
