MONA McCONNELL
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mona Marie McConnell at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare in Windsor on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, in her 98th year.
Mona was the beloved wife of the late Verner Alexander McConnell. Dear daughter of the late Ivy and John Ruttan. Loving Mother of the late Terry and wife Dianne, the late John, Brian and late wife Della, Wayne, Lynn and husband Doug, Ian and wife Karen, Joy and husband Darby, Lisa and husband Bob, and the late Joel. Dear sister of the late June Dennis and the late Bill Ruttan.
Mona was the heart and pillar of her family — a true family woman and a woman of God. Her faith guided her life, and her love for her family ran deep and unwavering. Family was everything to Mona. She cared fiercely, loved generously, and always made sure those around her felt supported, welcomed, and cherished.
Her phone was rarely quiet. Whether it was family, friends, or someone who simply needed comfort, Mona was always there to listen, pray, encourage, and offer love. She made time for everyone, and her presence brought peace and strength to those around her.
She never forgot a special occasion. Birthdays, Christmas, and milestones were marked with cards sent with love — she rarely missed one. Many will remember her little traditions, including the familiar joy of receiving her cards and even a treasured box of turtles that brought smiles and laughter to all who knew her.
She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Terry Jr., Tracy, Trish, Stephen, Cody, Jasmine, Anya, Cara, Nicol, Jennifer, Kristy, Jacob, Jenna, Tia, Nevaeh, and Bree Anne, along with her many beloved great-grandchildren, and her treasured nieces and nephews.
Mona’s home and heart were always open. Through quiet guidance, faith, laughter, and unconditional love, she created a legacy that will live on through every generation she touched.
Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound, on Tuesday, May 12th from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Funeral Service will take place in the Logan Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 12th at 11:00 A.M. Reception to follow.
Interment Hillcrest Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to The Gideons Bible Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice in Mona’s memory.

I just wanted to share a few words about how deeply my Nanny will be missed. She was such a steady, loving presence in my life. I’ll miss our long phone calls, her prayers, and the way she always knew the right thing to say. Her faith wasn’t just something she believed — it was how she lived. She loved first, forgave often, and carried everyone in prayer. There’s a real ache in my heart knowing I can’t pick up the phone and hear her voice. But I find comfort knowing she’s with God now, and that the love, faith, and wisdom she gave me will guide me for the rest of my life. I am the mom I am today , because you loved me. I forever cherish every memory and I will do my best to make you proud ALWAYS!!!

To the McConnell family: My sincere condolences on the loss of your dear Mom. She was an anchor to the family and I know Mona will be sorely missed… I have fond memories of the tall, graceful red head who reminded me of my mother. She was my friend’s Mom and was always kind to me, even in that busy household, she took time to smile and welcome me. I also recall she wore a uniform for her long – time job at Canadian Tire! She wore many hats, and wore them well, as is shown by the love and admiration of her family and friends. I hope your many fond memories and funny stories will keep your hearts full.
