MICHAEL BERCIK

Michael Bercik (4th Degree Knight of Columbus with St. Peter the Apostle Church) passed away peacefully at Belvedere Heights on Saturday, December 28th, 2024. Age 88 years.

Beloved husband of Patricia (Norton) Bercik for 64 years. Loving father of Elizabeth Campbell and her husband Roger. Cherished Grandpa of Lisa, Lori and Richard. Dear great grandfather of 8.

Michael was born in Sudbury in 1936. He worked at Inco until 1966 when he moved to find work due to a strike at Inco. He was a trade electrician, working in Oshawa until he moved to Etobicoke to go to school to be a teacher. He worked for the Peel Board of Education in Mississauga until his retirement. In1973 Michael moved to Burlington, Ontario to help look after his parents, and then later taught at Brampton vocational schools -- he loved helping the kids find their direction in life. He had many students who went on to accomplish great things -- something that made him very proud!

Michael enjoyed building his cottage on Harris Lake in Waubamik, Ontario, and spent his retirement there, despite his colon cancer diagnosis. He enjoyed all of the visits from family and friends to the cottage – everyone enjoyed the lake and would come back many times. The Bercik travelled to the cottage almost every weekend; snowstorms and tornados did not stop their visits to the beloved cottage! Michael’s grandchildren and family knew that Christmas celebrations always happened at the cottage.

When he was not coming to the cottage, Michael and Patricia loved travelling in their RV all over Canada and the United States. He was always on the move, even after they stopped their trips to Florida.

As was Michael’s wish, cremation has taken place.

A private service with interment of ashes will take place in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Belvedere Heights, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Condolences

Thank you for everything you did for all of your students in your electrical class. You helped paved the way for many of us in the electrical field.

Rest in peace and God bless Mr. Bercik

My condolences to Mike's family. Mike was a dedicated member of St. Peter's Church Knights of Columbus 7080 in Parry Sound. If there was an event taking place Mike would always be there to offer assistance. He was forever taking pictures and was a great help at our weekly bingo's. He was a kind hearted person and a true gentleman. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Rest in Peace Mike. Joe Ryman, Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus, Council 7080, Parry Sound
