1937 – 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Loretta Lee Kerr on January 3rd, 2026 at the age of 88. Born Loretta Lee Yeates in Parry Sound, she was predeceased by her parents, Edith (Tindy) and Walter Yeates.
Loretta was married 38 joy-filled years to Charlie (Charles Murdo) Kerr who predeceased her in 1996. She will be lovingly missed by her devoted and loving son, Chuck and his wife Barb. Also, lovingly missed by her grandchildren, Matthew Kerr (Jemma Wolfe Kerr) and Shawn Kerr (Claire Henry) and by her great grandchildren Alden and Rowan Wolfe Kerr. Dear sister of Marie Cormier, Shirley Thornton, Joe Yeates, Barb Rogozynski, Brian Yeates, Mike Yeates and the late Tommy Yeates.
Loretta grew up in Depot Harbour, also lived in Burwash and spent many wonderful years enjoying their camp on Nepewassi Lake. She then moved back to Parry Sound enjoying many years with family and friends. In her younger years, she achieved a great accomplishment becoming a Registered Nurse’s Assistant while navigating family and her own health needs. In addition to spending time with her family, she loved live music, playing shuffleboard and bingo, and doing puzzles with her sisters.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Knight and the entire Belvedere Heights staff for their incredible care, kindness and compassion. Additionally, they would like to thank all the staff at the West Parry Sound Health Centre.
As was Loretta’s wish, cremation has taken place.
A Graveside Service will take place at Sylvan Acres Cemetery on Friday, May 8th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Memorial Reception at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound. Please enter through the lower parking lot doors.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to Belvedere Heights, or the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation.

I am so sorry to hear of Loretta’s passing. I loved hearing of all her stories of growing up at Depot Harbour. She shared feeling so cared for by her family and it showed in her longevity & kind gentle heart. She was a great woman and will be missed by many. I know I will miss her.
