LINDA HANSON

Linda Ann Hanson (née Humphrey) passed away peacefully after a long and difficult battle with dementia at Belvedere Heights on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, age 73.

Predeceased by her parents Jack and Yvonne Humphrey and her devoted husband of 34 years, Robin. Loving mother of Julie and Keri-Anne (Thomas). Sister of Connie, Steven (Patricia), and Paul (Jean). Adoring grandmother to Ryan and Erika. She is fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, many friends, and the Parry Sound community.

Born in Toronto, Linda was the national candy buyer for the Hudson’s Bay Company in the 1980s. Entrepreneurial and extremely driven, she was a trailblazer at a time when it was uncommon for women to be business executives.

She moved to Parry Sound in the early 1990s with Robin, Julie and Keri-Anne. She was active in the community, working with Community Living and RISE, and singing with the Parry Sound Singers.

Linda led the family to open and operate a cleaning business, Maid to Order, which served cottages and residential homes in Parry Sound and the surrounding area. She and Robin purchased a small café in 2004. This small business venture grew into the Mad Hatter Café and Bakery, which operated in Downtown Parry Sound on Seguin Street from 2006 to her retirement in the early 2010s.

Following Robin’s sudden passing in 2021, she made her home at Belvedere Heights, where her enduring joie de vivre and dance parties endeared her to her fellow residents and caregivers.

She was a beam of sunshine in the lives of her loved ones and friends. Her gentle presence, kindness, and joyful laughter brightened the day of everyone she met. She was a radiant light in the lives of her loved ones, friends and community. She is dearly missed.

Cremation has taken place.

Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound on Saturday, November 16th from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 noon.

A Celebration of Linda’s Life will take place in the Logan Memorial Chapel at 12:00 noon.
Reception to follow.

All expressions of sympathy, including flowers, honorary donations to local community organizations such as Belvedere Heights, and cards are welcome.

My condolences to you and your family, Julie. I remember your Mum when you first moved here as a super-efficient career lady. Years on, I passed her on the street sometimes on the way to her duties as a crossing guard. She would always share her 1000-watt smile and a kind word. She was a great lady and created a wonderful family.
