Jennie Belanger (née Deshevy), born in 1932, in Britt, Ontario, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, at the age of 93.

Jennie was the heart of her family. Her door was always open, and her home was a place of warmth and laughter where people naturally gathered, and no one ever left hungry. Through her quiet patience, devotion, and tenacity, she created a nurturing foundation that will carry on for generations.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ted; her eldest child, Susan (Roy); and her parents, Philomena and Stephen.

Jennie is lovingly remembered by her children Karen, Ralph (Bonnie), Joan (Cort), Betty, and Terry.

She is also cherished by her grandchildren Melanie, Justin, Erik (Sumittra), Amanda (Josh), Jason, Brandon, Heather, and Nathan, and by her great-grandchildren Aiden, Justin, Kennedy, Arianna, and Leah. To them, she was “Meme,” a name given by her oldest granddaughter as a toddler, reaching up and calling, “Me! Me!” to be picked up. The origin of this name reflects Jennie’s warmth, gentleness, and the deep bond she shared with those she loved.

In keeping with Jennie’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation (Palliative Care Unit) would be gratefully appreciated.
