It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Rene Gerard Roy announce his passing at the West Parry Sound Health Centre on Sunday, May 24th, 2026. Age 80 years.

Beloved husband and best friend of Verna for 57 years. Loving father of Lynne, and grandfather of Sarah and Matthew.Loving son of the late William and Phoebe Roy (nee Fuller) and step-father Bernard ‘Barney’ Weight. Dear brother of Alex (Gloria), Rolland (Mary), and brother-in-law Donald. Pre-deceased by his siblings Aime (Rita), Leona (Vince), Vinny (Roland), Elsie (Gilbert), Stella, Anna-May, Gertrude (Clarence), Alice, Leonard, Gilbert (Helene), and Lorraine. Gerry loved his many nieces and nephews. He took many people under his wing and showed unconditional love.

Gerry loved his family above all, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed travelling, fishing, hunting, going in the bush, camping, and often just lending a helping hand. Gerry was a Millwright for Roy’s Lumber and Mining Timber in Britt for over 30 years.

Gerry’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff at the West Parry Sound Health Centre who have been so kind to Gerry and his family.

As was Gerry’s wish, there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place.
