It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful kind man Gerard Joachim Morel. He passed away peacefully in the early morning on Saturday January 11th 2014 at the age of 92 with family by his side. As was his habit he went in dignity humbly and without fuss or fanfare. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Beloved son of the late Joseph Ernest Morel and the late Beatrice Irene (Nadon).

Loving husband of the late Edith (nee Fisher) Morel.

Loving father of Janis (Paul Smith) of Swan Hills Alberta; Jennine (Clarence Krieger) of Parry Sound; and Corinne Morel (Randy Higgins) also of Parry Sound.

He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who were blessed to have known him.

Brother of Enid Burke Victor Morel Theresa Barker Mary Renaud Jerome Morel Harry Morel Ernie Morel the late Roger Morel and Emile (Nig) Morel.

Fondly remembered by his many nieces nephews other relatives and many friends.

Gerry was a World War II veteran who served overseas in London. He always downplayed his role in the war saying All we had to worry about was the bombs. He was also an avidfisherman although he didnít have as many chances to go fishing in the last few years. Gerry survived a bout with cancer when he was 90 having a large tumour removed from his neck and a large skin and muscle graft taken from his back amazing his doctors with his resilience and by how quickly he got up and about after a 10 hour surgery.

Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church on Thursday January 16th 2014 at 2:00 P.M. Family will receive visitors at the Logan Funeral Home on Wednesday January 15th between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.

Cremation to follow.

As expressions of sympathy donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #117 or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Performing a random act of kindness in Gerryís Memory would be something he would have also appreciated.
