GEORGE WARBY
George Guy Warby passed away with his family by his side at Health Sciences North, Sudbury, on Sunday, November 10th, 2024. Age 81 years.
Beloved husband of Maureen (née Beagan) Warby, and a guiding, inspiring father to Meghan. Predeceased by his parents, Rheta and Allan Warby, he was a cherished son-in-law to Ted and Martha Beagan and an honorary brother to the Beagan boys: Kelly, John, Ward, Paul, Neil, and the late Ted. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and Maynard cousins.
Born and raised in Toronto and Scarborough, George was a teacher, neighbour and friend, whose generous spirit and warm smile brought joy to everyone around him. Though city-born, he had a small-town heart through and through — always quick with a laugh, a story, and a helping hand. A dedicated teacher and advocate for literacy, George shared his passion for learning with generations of students at Mactier, Humphrey, Nobel, and William Beatty public schools.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of George’s Life will be held at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound, on Sunday, November 17th, from 12:00 – 3:00 P.M.
Interment Hillcrest Cemetery Columbarium.
Donations to George’s favourite charity - the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation - are greatly appreciated.

-Doug McNaughtonCondolences to the family. George was always a fun guy to be around. His love for family and the Detroit Redwings was unquestionable. I met George through working for the same school board as an electrician. We always had a joke to share with one another when we would see each other. A few years after he retired I was getting gas at the CT pumps with the School Board maintenance vehicle which was beyond needing replaced and George drove by and yelled out his car window: they must really like you at the school board to get you a vehicle from Rent-A-Wreck. I had quite a chuckle to share for the whole day.
-Gary and Lorna KennedyMaureen and Meghan, Steve and I are so very sorry to hear that George has left this world. We got such a laugh out of his antics on the balcony and looked forward to hearing what he would have to say. “All quiet on the home front?” was our favourite. His laugh always brought a smile to our faces. May he rest in peace, and may your memories bring you comfort at this sad time.
-Sherry MarkTo some of us his nickname was gorgeous George! Great teacher at the public school in MacTier. I believe Maureen was teacher at that school as well. Great sense of humour. Also recall his many contributions over time with the MacTier Lions club. My condolences.
-Bonnie BlanchardMaureen & Family, So sorry to hear that George has passed. He always had a smile and like to stop for a chat. Our sincere condolences.
-Donna & Peter van der ValkMrs. Warby and Meghan, we are sad and sorry to hear of your loss. Our sincerest condolences to you both.....thinking of you. May your memories comfort you. Lena and Bob Hamilton.
-Lena and Bob HamiltonWe were very fortunate when we moved to Parry Sound, to live across the street from George, Maureen and Meghan. George's humour and warm laugh made for great conversations, (the Red Wings usually made the topic list), his underlying wisdom sprinkled in. A tender, caring person. On a number of severe snowfall occassions, George would gain sufficient momentum snow blowing down their long driveway, to cross the street and generously snow blow our driveway....a neighbourly smile and wave during the process! Our sincere condolences to Maureen, Megan and family.

-Dave & Marsha NicolWhile I'm sure I'm old enough to call him George, he will always be Mr. Warby to me. I have such wonderful memories of learning from him - and with him - in grade 4. My deepest condolences to Maureen, Meghan and the entire family. He was an incredible man and I hope the warm and loving remembrances of him help dull the pain of his loss. I'll be cheering for the Detroit Red Wings this hockey season.
-Jennifer (Brown) WillMaureen and family, I too was shocked and saddened by the news of George's passing. George visited the Classroom Resource Centre where I was the Library Tech many times. Please take this in the spirit in which it is intended, George was a brat!! Full of good will and mischief. God speed, George. You will not be forgotten.

-Frank and Diane PenfoldMy sincerest condolences to Mr.Warby's family. He was my grade 5/6 teacher at Humphrey school. He will always be my favorite teacher! He would read to us and Mr.Warby was the reason I love to read to this day. When he read to us he would project me into the book as if I was standing right beside the characters. My fondest memory is of him reading Big Friendly Giant to us. I'm older now and there's many things I have forgotten but I will never forget him reading us that book! Rest in peace Mr.Warby. -Adem NezirevicI am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Warby. He was a well loved teacher at Humphrey School when my sons attended there. My father was a CPR engineer working out of MacTier and although I never knew quite how, Mr Warby and my father had a connection, probably the Lion’s Club. I will sadly miss our conversations in the grocery store, the place we always seemed to meet and reconnect and without fail, his inquiries about the well being of my boys. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Warby and Meghan. His smile, conversation and laughter will be sorely missed.

Sincere condolences to you Maureen and to Meghan on the passing of George. What a wonderful teacher he was. He was the perfect Grade 4 teacher for our son Rodger. George really enjoyed the kids; that was abundantly clear. And he instilled such a wonderful love of reading in them. That is a gift that lasts a lifetime. Sincere sympathy to you both.

Our deepest condolences to you Maureen, Meghan and family. Mr. Warby was my teacher in MacTier and shared his love of literature, sense of humour, sports and learning. He embraced volunteering with the local Lion’s Club and supported many projects in the community. As an adult living in the area we would meet and George was always happy to catch up and chat. I will remember his same sense of fun and keen interest in family and mutual friends. He will not be forgotten.
-Paula Purdon MullenTo the family of George. We are sorry to learn of his passing. Great teacher of our children. Our prayers are with you.

Maureen, we had forgotten that George taught our daughter Heather in grade 4 as well as Rodger two years later in grade 4. Heather reminded us of that today and said he was just an awesome teacher. Both Rodger and Heather were so fortunate to have him as teacher. We want to share that with you. Sincere sympathy to you and Megan. Pat and Richard Poole

-Richard and Sue WoodhouseMaureen and Meghan - I was so sorry to hear that George died. He was my Grade 4 teacher in a year when I changed schools after Foley School closed. He was such an incredible teacher - welcoming and enthusiastic and so much fun. We crossed paths again when he worked as the librarian at Nobel when I was there, and it was always good to reconnect with him.
When I think of my teachers over the years, he is always top of mind as a wonderful and important influence. I remember him so fondly - he brings a smile to my face. Thinking of you,
