GENE MADIGAN
Eugene Herman Madigan passed away suddenly at home on Monday, March 30th, 2026. Age 87 years.
Son of the late Herman and Vera Madigan. Beloved husband of Lois for 65 years. Loving father of Laurie (Dan) and the late Greg. Cherished Grandpa of Rachel (Brad), and Melissa (Austin). Dear brother of Marion (the late Marvin) and the late Irene (the late Fred), and dear brother-in-law of the late Ron (survived by wife Eleanor), Mavis (Ron), and Ken (Rose). Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Above all, Gene cherished his time outdoors on the farm, fishing, hunting, camping, and snowmobiling. He was a devoted family man to his wife, kids, and grandchildren. His favourite role was that of “Grandpa”, he adored spending time with his two granddaughters and his legacy lives on through the countless stories and photographs captured over the years.
He was loyal, generous, hardworking and deeply committed to those he loved. He will be remembered for his boundless enthusiasm for life and the many friendships he made along the way.
As was Gene’s wish, a Graveside Service will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery on Friday, May 15th at 10:00 A.M., where he will be laid to rest next to his son, Greg.

I am so sorry for your loss. I so feel for all of you. I want to tell you a story about my favorite memory of Uncle Gene. Aunt Dodie and Uncle Gene did their best to visit our family every year. At the time I was working at CJOH TV in Ottawa. I had just ended a short relationship with a man I worked with. While we were dating I asked him to check my oil and engine. Before opening the hood of my car, he put on white gloves and very carefully pulled out the dip stick. Uncle Gene laughed and laughed when I told him.. He loved my dating stories and that made me very happy. I will always remember his wonderful laugh.
