Condolences

I'm so grateful for the time she shared with me to revitalize Anishinabemowin, always asking me to speak Ojibway with her, never making me feel shy. She will be missed and never forgotten.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to the family and community. I enjoyed my work with Donna and she always had a smile and kindness.
Here’s a little story of me & Donna. I remember going canoeing with Donna and she said to me do not tip the canoe & get her cigarettes wet. Well when I went to jump in the canoe, I was at the back and our canoe started tipping. Donna slowly went to the side and our canoe tipped over with her smokes floating on the water. I quickly jumped to rescue her smokes and then put them all on a log to dry in the sun. Donna & I were wet & she was like: “hey my smokes”!!! Holeee..,, we laughed!!! That was a fun day with Donna and out outing at 3 mile.
Her smile will be remembered. Sending love and hugs 🤗

Donna spent the day with us at EarthTALKER Anishinaabemowin Gabeshi. She sat speaking the language with us. She reminded me that we are family, and helped me to start thinking about what that means (I've been away from the community for a long time). I am thankful to have known Donna even a little bit. My heart goes out to the family may you receive all you need at this time. Safe journey home to Creator. xoxo
