DAVID COXON

In loving memory of David Gordon Coxon.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Gordon Coxon announce his passing on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 at the age of 76.

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, David was the beloved son of William and Florence (nee Mitchell) Coxon.

His lifelong connection to Parry Sound was started at the cottage on Isabella Lake which ultimately introduced him to the love of his life and significant other Shirleyann Rowe with whom he shared a home in Parry Sound. David was predeceased by Shirleyann in 2020.

He will be deeply missed by his brother Bill (Jean), his sister Lynda, his nephews Wesley (Preilene), Jeffrey (Laura) and his niece Francine. His memory will also be cherished by his great nieces Gabrielle, Danielle, Sara, Kayla and great nephew Edward, along with extended family and friends.

David was a hardworking man of many talents. He spent years as a window washer in Toronto and eventually navigating the streets of Parry Sound as a taxi driver. He loved talking to anyone and everyone. He was always ready with a joke, usually the same trusty ones. Outside of work he pursued his interests with enthusiasm. An avid scuba diver he was a proud member of Devonian Divers in Toronto. When he wasn’t under water, he could often be found with a fishing pole in hand. He would be exploring food and community at local events.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff of Fieldstone Commons Care Community for their compassion, patience and exceptional care.

As was David’s wish, cremation has taken place. A private family Graveside Service and Interment will be held at Christie Memorial Cemetery.
