BUTCH ALLEN
With broken hearts we are sharing the passing of our cherished husband, dad and Popa, Wendell (Butch) Allen on March 10, 2026 at the age of 78 after a short but fierce battle. He was comforted with his wife and daughter by his side.
He is survived by his family, who loved him unconditionally. He leaves behind his wife of almost 59 years, Linda (nee Wager), his daughter Robin (Dave O’Gorman) and his only two grandsons Kyle and Tyler. Brother to Marg, Cathy, Judy, Lynda and Brian. Predeceased by his mother Rena and step dad Boyd Bell.
Famous for his garage beers, wild stories that got better (and less believable) every year, weapon grade sarcasm, and a level of stubbornness that could bend steel, he lived exactly the way he wanted — loudly, fully, and unapologetically. He swore worse than a sailor and could be heard clear across town, whether he was telling a story, arguing with a tool that betrayed him, or fixing something that needed to be fixed. Everyone in town knew exactly who was talking the moment they heard him, offering his colourful commentary, you could hear him long before you saw him. He had the loudest personality, the most determination, was dependable and earned the name of Crusty, yet somehow, he had the biggest heart and was the most loveable man many of us ever knew — a combination only he could pull off. But nothing — not the stories, not the antics, not the stubborn victories — meant more to him than his two grandsons. They were his pride, his enjoyment, and his favourite topic of conversation. They inherited his humour, his courage, and just enough of his stubborn streak to keep the family on their toes, which he considered his greatest accomplishment. He bragged about them constantly and would want everyone to know they were his greatest joy. He will be treasured and missed by his many, many friends, and special thanks to Brian and Dan who put up with him over this awful illness, your visits and friendship meant the world to him.

Very sorry to hear Butch has passed. Sorry I never got over to have that beer with him. I always liked Butch, since way back when he worked fur my Dad, and hung with my brother. He certainly was a character, fun to be around. Condolences to all his family.

I grew up with this Genuine Character. He was one of my Dads best friends and his wife Linda was one of my moms best friends! My brother and I grew up with their whole family from Robin babysitting us to having a couple cold brewskies with my dad! The language was colourful and definitely not for lack there of lol To some he was a Hard Ass but to us he was family! I wish to send our deepest condolences to Linda, Robin, Dave, Kyle, Tyler and the rest of his family and friends. He will always be remembered in my heart! My first swear words I learned from uncle butch, not because he taught them to me but because my bedroom was in earshot of his garage. He was always a loving man unless you were a tool or a vehicle. He’d stop in & talk every once in a while when he found our place was minutes away, we spent one evening talking for a couple hours with my husband he told me I did good, I agree. He’ll definitely be missed!
