BART BROWN
Bartholomew “Bart” Raymond Brown passed away on May 18, 2026. He was 58.
Born in 1968, Bart grew up in Woods Bay, where the rhythms of the seasons and the example set by his parents and grandparents taught him the value of hard work, self-reliance, and lending a hand. He later made his home in Seguin Township, remaining rooted to the shoreline and community he loved.
Bart was a highly skilled contractor whose workmanship can be found all across the area in the many homes, cottages, boathouses, and docks he built. He was widely respected for his high standards, deep expertise, and true craftsmanship; he took pride in doing things the right way, and it showed in every project he touched.
Georgian Bay was Bart’s favourite place to be. He spent as much time as he could on the water—boating, scuba diving, and Sea-Dooing and on the shore with a campfire going, telling stories, playing games, sharing good jokes (or chortling wholeheartedly at everyone else’s). He loved winter on the trails snowmobiling, was a master of the barbecue, and knew how to make truly delicious maple syrup-skills he shared generously with family and friends.
Bart loved anything with an engine: scoots, boats, motorcycles, snowmobiles, sports cars, trucks, and RC vehicles. He also delighted in building LEGO Technic sets and other highly intricate, power-operated scale models-meticulous creations that let his craftsmanship shine at any size. He was known to say “Go big, or go home!”
Bart is survived by his beloved wife, Joanna Brown, whom he married on August 11, 2001; his children, William Brown and Sophie Brown; his mother, Pauline Dion; and his sister, Rachel Brown; all of Seguin Township. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Brown, in November 2022. He will be dearly missed by extended family, many friends, and all who knew him through his work and solid reputation.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 20th, 2026, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at his mother and sister’s home: 1512 Lake Joseph Road, Seguin, Ontario.
The family wishes to thank the countless nurses, doctors, and specialists from Care Partners Parry Sound, WPSHC, and RVH hospitals, whom were all involved in Bart’s care over the last five years, as he courageously battled prostate cancer. Particular thanks go to Dr. Isabel Li, his oncologist and Dr. Anthony Drohomyrecky, his urologist, for never treating him like just a number.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honour Bart’s memory by spending time on the water, lending a hand to a neighbour or a friend, or by sharing a story or a good joke around the campfire, just as he loved to do.

Growing up with Bart was great, from canoe trips down the Moon to the little lakes fishing. Growing up we would see him and would come to the cottage every weekend. He was always welcome.
