ANDREA WEST
Andrea Julie West passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, Saturday August 30th, 2025 at the age of 68 years.
Beloved wife of Paul Grubb. Cherished daughter of Joan West and the late Gerry West of Seguin, daughter in-law of Joan and John Grubb of Walkerton. Andrea will be missed dearly by her step-sons Cameron Grubb (Sarah), along with her sweet granddaughter Lauren, and by Connor Grubb (Julie), along with her grand-puppy Bruce. Lovingly remembered by brother Tim West (Elizabeth) and their children Ashley and David. Fondly remembered by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and other relatives and friends.
A 1975 graduate of Parry Sound High School, Andrea completed her secondary education in Public Relations at Humber College in Toronto. Confident, intelligent and driven, Andrea excelled at school and was quick with her sharp wit. Andrea’s renowned beauty had her crowned a Parry Sound Winter Carnival Queen. Childhood summers were spent cottaging on Georgian Bay with family and friends. College student summers were spent writing newsletters for Killbear Provincial Park. Andrea was comfortable handling the snakes at the park and always had a propensity for taming wild things! Peacocks never failed to display any time she was near one. Andrea leaves behind her rescued cats and a neighbourhood fox in the care of her mother and husband.
Backed by accreditation as a stock trader, Andrea was also a force to be reckoned with as the office manager of the Kitchener Branch of Scotia-McLeod for most of her career. Andrea developed several close friendships at work. Then and into retirement she continued to enjoy yearly excursions with 3 special “girls” from office branches in London and Windsor Ontario and from Montreal Quebec.
Andrea’s greatest passion until she met Paul at forty was curling up with a cat and a good book and indulging family in Parry Sound. Andrea eventually discovered line dancing, with competitions taking her as far as Las Vegas and subsequently meeting the love of her life on a dance floor in Kitchener. Andrea and Paul eventually married, building a life together in Kitchener. Upon Andrea’s retirement, Paul and Andrea opted to move back to Parry Sound. They took up curling as well as volunteering at the Parry Sound Curling Club. Andrea’s talent and humour will be deeply missed by The Town of Parry Sound where she taught line dancing to a delighted class at The Bobby Orr Community Centre for several years.
Andrea used her business expertise when she took on a secretarial position with The Parry Sound Health Centre Auxiliary and also became a board member with the Parry Sound & District Horticultural Society. The beautiful gardens near the entrance to The Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts have been maintained and expanded by Andrea and her team for a few years now.
As was Andrea’s wish, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Andrea’s life will take place at the Foley Community Hall, 60 Rankin Lake Rd, Foley, Ontario on Saturday September 20th, 2025 from 1:00 P.M to 4:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Foley Memorial Cemetery.

In memory of Andrea plant something colourful, read a book, try a new recipe, volunteer in your community and keep dancing! As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation (Auxiliary or Palliative Care), The Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

I am so sorry and my condolences to Paul and the whole family with Andrea passing . Mike and I moved to Parry Sound in the Winter of 2020. While it was too late to curl that season and with COVID we never got to meet Andrea and Paul until 2021 whereas Mike and I had the privilege of curling with them Friday night. Andrea and I bonded immediately with her quick whit and stories. The oh crap sorry moments in curling when I would hog the sweeping. Sharing some great dinners at their place and laughing till our sides hurt. Andrea you truly were a great friend to two strangers coming in and made us feel like we were at home. Rest in peace girl you will never be forgotten xoxox
